Wednesday Season 2: What to Expect From the Dark & Twisted Teen Series?

Premiered in November 2022, Wednesday became one of the streaming platforms’ most streamed series ever, and fans, of course, cannot wait for a brand new season!

Wednesday surpassed Stranger Things, a sci-fi hit, to become the most-viewed web series by garnering more than 340 million hours in its first week!

Wednesday season 2 is in development, and what we know is Wednesday’s world (at least her family) is about to get bigger!

The first season of the dark drama and comedy ended on a cliffhanger, leaving fans like you, wondering who sent the threatening text and who’s been stalking Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega).

While there is no official return date for Wednesday yet, here’s what you can expect from our dark and twisted teen and her weirdly odd family in the next season.

Is There Going to Be Wednesday Season 2?

Yes, it’s official! Netflix is renewing Wednesday for a new season. This was announced with a video on Twitter, however, no release date has been set.

The co-showrunner Miles Millar spoke with TVLine and said, “We felt like we just touched the surface with those characters, and the actors are so amazing in those roles.… Catherine [Zeta-Jones] is, I think, an iconic Morticia. The relationship between Wednesday and Morticia is also essential to the show, and the idea that Wednesday is trying to forge her own path outside the family is important.”

Jenna herself shared her own hopes for Wednesday season 2 by saying “I kind of want [Wednesday] to be darker.” She further adds, “There are a lot of lines about her saving the school and doing whatever, but for me, her main drive with the monster is of a competitiveness. Kind of, ‘Man, how’s this guy doing this?’ I think I want it to continue down an antihero stream rather than a typical hero.”

We know you’re quite curious about who will be in the next season. However, there’s no official word on who might return to make his/her debut, but here’s what we know:

What’s the Rumour About Lady Gaga Joining Wednesday Cast?

It could be nothing short of iconic if Lady Gaga joins the Wednesday team. However, it’s firmly in the gossip at this point in time.

Speaking of which, Lady Gaga gave major love to the series when TikTokers started using the song “Bloody Mary” in Wednesday-inspired dances.

5 Fan Theories for Wednesday Season 2

The first season showed how Wednesday grew up and went through her teenage years. She began as a distant and rigid teenager but gradually became a friend who is caring, and even found herself caught up in a romantic relationship.

Since there’s no way of knowing what might happen in season 2, but right now, there are five fan theories for what to expect.

1. Addams Family Could Have a Bigger Role to Play

The first season focused on Wednesday, discovering her psychic abilities with the guidance of her ancestor, Goody Addams. This sparked various theories among viewers about the character and potential family members.

While the Addams family is intriguing, the show only featured familiar characters like Lurch and Uncle Fester. Other family members such as Cousin It or Grandmama Addams were not included. So, the show could introduce new original characters.

2. Morning Sun Cult Could Be Villains

It’s not known yet who will be the villains in Wednesday Season 2, but a fan theory is that some conflict will revolve around the Morning Sun Cult.

Morning Song is a group of sirens pretending to be a self-help community. They manipulate people with their special abilities to make them give away all their money. Bianca’s mother and stepfather are the leaders of this operation.

3. Xavier Thorpe Could be Revealed to be a Hyde

A popular theory for season 2 of Wednesday suggests Percy Hynes White’s character, Xavier, might be unveiled as a Hyde.

In season 1, Xavier experienced recurring dreams of Hyde, but the reason behind these dreams was never totally explained, except for the vague connection to his psychic abilities. However, if Xavier were secretly a Hyde, it would make sense that his dreams were a subconscious manifestation of his alter ego, potentially triggered by Tyler’s actions.

The notion that Hydes are inherently artistic also aligns with this idea, and exploring Xavier’s struggle with trust in relation to his Hyde identity could provide an interesting continuation of his character.

4. Yoko Could be Wednesday’s Stalker

Since season 1 ended on Wednesday after receiving a text message from an unknown number, which threatened to kill her, fans are trying to discover who the stalker could be. Fans have deduced that the one sending these texts could be a student from Nevermore Academy and theorized they could be Yoko Tanaka.

5. Wednesday and Enid Could Become a Couple

Netflix is known for its inclusiveness, and fans are waiting for it to include LGBTQ+ characters in the series.

One prevailing theory among viewers is that Enid Sinclair might reveal her identity as a bisexual character. This theory is mainly rooted in Enid’s aesthetic, particularly her pink and blue hair, which bears a resemblance to the colors of the bisexual flag.

Additionally, from the beginning of the show, fans noticed a remarkable chemistry between Enid and Wednesday, leading to the creation of a popular ship called Wenclair!

Can’t Keep Calm for the Wednesday Season 2?

Estimating the release date of Wednesday season 2 is tough, but considering the timeline of season 1, which took about a year and a month from filming to release, it’s possible that season 2 could arrive in early to mid-2024.

With its dark and twisted themes, fascinating characters, and the potential for further exploration, Wednesday season 2 promises to captivate viewers once again! Fans are eagerly waiting for the return of this unique and twisted teen series.
